

MUSCAT: Chaand Raat, a colourful event that marks the festivities and preparations running up to Eid-ul-Adha will be held at the Al Falaj Hotel in Ruwi from 2pm on May 26.
The 'Chand Raat' which means henna night, is an annual event, part of the celebrations of the various communities residing in Oman where Omani nationals visit as guests and encourages all families to gather at a place and do final rounds of shopping besides discussing their Eid preparations.
Organised by Shaheenz Events, hundreds of visitors, predominantly women, showcasing their artistic skills and scores or women and girls are expected to attend the same.
Among the plethora of colourful activities of the ChaandRaat Baazaar, a colourful event for ladies, there are food stalls, jewelleries, clothes, perfumes, ladies and gents wear, painting, Henna, magic show, kids entertainment, and quiz and spot prizes are not-to-miss activities, according to the organisers.
“This time around, Chand Raat has grown to be bigger and better and we are expecting a large number of women and children to clock the stalls inside the Al Falaj hotel hall which will offer a variety of entertainments besides henna and the like,” said Shaheen, the organiser.
The cooking contest comprises pasta and dessert challenge and paanipuri eating challenge and there will be an open mic singing, shayari and stand-up comedy.
Besides, there are prizes for best stall setup, best henna designs will also be eligible to win gifts. With all the shopping, delicious food, live entertainment, games, music, talent and festive vibes, the Eid eve will be an unforgettable evening, the organisers added.
There will be a henna contest for both professional and amateur henna artists and one can book her henna stall with them and get a chance to win rewards, according to Shaheen, the key organiser.
"Best Henna design incorporating national values and aesthetic design will be rewarded by key personnel," she said.
There will also be distribution of bangles, henna painting, gifts for kids and delicacies of Asia including puri/gol gappa to be served to the attendees throughout the event.
With live mehndi, colourful bangles, antique to modern jewelry besides lots of entertainment and fun and frolic events, the Chaand Raat is expected to add colours to the people getting ready fir Eid ul Fitr.
Entry is from 2pm to 12am and free for all nationalities and more families are welcomed, Shaheen said.
